A new release of the historic Adidas Athen will be taking place in a number of hours. By the time you read this they will be for sale. The official release date is 21st October 2016 and it appears that Size? will be the only outlet selling this particular launch. The Athen will be available online at Size? and in Size? retail stores in the UK. The price is £80. However, that price will double, or even triple once these trainers sell out. And if past releases / reissues are anything to go by, that will be very fast.
Adidas Athen (Athens) go all the way back to the late sixties. They have seen numerous changes to their design over the years and even a name change. Athen is their second name, which came very early in their life. And of course, this blue and white colourway are the exact colours of the flag for Greece, which was done out of respect for their Olympic Games history (It originated there), as was the name change.
They have a suede upper with leather trim, bubbled tongue and gum sole. Adidas “City” named trainers are crazy popular, and this pair will no doubt keep that trend going along nicely. Their updated appearance now fits in well with many of the other examples from the city series, like London, Berlin, Stockholm, Hochelaga (Montreal’s), and Malmo. Great trainers that have a rich history. A good pair to add to the collection. Don’t miss out!
